Linear Box of 6 Atoms

Chain of six metallic atoms

Here is an example from the directory 'Atoms and Molecules'

Six atoms in a chain
This is a screen shot from program 'LinBox' which solves the Schrödinger Equation live and numerically for many linear systems (including potentials you can define and draw with the mouse).
The example shows a chain of 6 (metallic) atoms. The emerging 'band structure', Valence Band sitting in the Coulomb wells, next the Conduction Band, both with 6 fold splitting, is well visible in the distributions of energy eigenvalues. During the calculation all eigenfunctions are computed and drawn as well.
